What we keep, and why.

What we collect

When you reserve a username, we store:

• Your email address — to confirm it is really yours, and to write to you at launch.
• The username you chose — so nobody else can take it.
• The dates you signed up and confirmed.
• A scrambled version of your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string — kept to stop the form being abused. The address itself is never stored.
• Where you came from, as a single word — "reddit", say, or the site that linked here. Never the address of the page, never anything you searched for.
• The one category you asked for, if you told us — the short line you can send after confirming your email, counted alongside everyone else's so the most-requested categories open first. Optional, and one answer each.

Nothing else. No passwords, because there is nothing to log in to yet, and no payment details, date of birth, address or phone number. We do not buy lists, and we do not add anyone who did not type their own address into the form.

Email

Signing up takes two steps on purpose: you enter an address, and nothing is confirmed until you click the link we send — so nobody but you can put your address on the list. A username that is never confirmed is released after seven days.

After that you get a welcome note, occasional build updates, and one email when the doors open. Every one of them carries an unsubscribe link.

Visits to this page

We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and cannot follow you to other websites. There is no advertising code on this site and nothing here is shared with an ad network.

Who else sees it

Two companies, both doing work we cannot do ourselves:

• Cloudflare — hosts the site and stores the list.
• Resend — delivers the email.

Nobody else. Your address is not sold, rented, swapped or handed to any other company, and it will not be — not at launch, not when the marketplace opens.

Getting rid of it

The unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails deletes your row: the address is gone and the username goes back into the pool. We keep only a note that an unsubscribe happened, so a mistake cannot put you back on the list.

When this changes

The forum and the marketplace will need more than a waitlist does — accounts, posts, and eventually payments handled by a payment processor. A longer version of this page will be published before any of that is switched on, not after, and if the change affects anyone already on the list, the email will say so plainly.
